News!

(Copied from myspace blog.)

Good news: the Shakespearean Festival trip that I am planning is officially now a class at NU for the spring 09 semester! Yipee! Worth ONE credit in ENGL, or DRAM.

It will occur May 11th - May 16th, 2009.
The cost is $575 per person.

I know the cost is a bit more than I originally guessed at, but that's mainly because we can't use the school vans. Somebody else got dibs on them before us. :(

It is a course, and therefore will charge to your tuition, which means you can make payments/use financial aid to cover the majority of the cost. You will need to bring at least $100 for lunches and four dinners (two are group dinners, included in the cost). Bring more $$ if you want to shop/buy gilato/etc. Because it is a class, there will also be some required reading: i.e. reading Macbeth, which is one of the plays.

There will be fliers around campus tomorrow. Sign up online when you register, and you must get a $30 deposit to Esther Harmon by November 15th to hold your tickets. If you do not do this, you may be booted out if there are others who wish to go.

You know you want to go. :)

There are only 12 spots, so sign up early, get your deposit in, and prepare for a class that you will never forget!

Other Good News: I am directing next semester, and the play is She Stoops to Conquer, by Oliver Goldsmith. Since we cannot set it in the Regency era, for obvious reasons (box skirst and huge wigs, ha!), I came up with the idea to set it in the late 1950's-early 1960's. So far Julia and DD approved this idea because it fits the theme of class distinction, as well as it is incredibly easy to get costumes and props for this period. The idea so far: stereotypical beatniks (black clothes, baret, bongos, no shoes) vs. upper class rich folk (a la June Cleaver).

That's the word so far, anyway. Things can change, so don't take it for ultimate truth, please.

Also, soon we will be announcing a contest regarding the play and it's Prologue/Epilogue issue. Writers and friends: keep your eyes open for fliers with rules, prizes, dates, etc!

That's all I'm going to say about that. ;)

Good day - it's lunch time!
